Review Of The Canon Powershot A1100 Is

With such a wide range of affordable options on the market today, there has never been a better time to buy a digital camera.  Yes I also know that the more choices one has, the harder it is to make an easy pick. One great choice is the Canon PowerShot A1100 IS.

Weighing in at just over seven ounces, the Canon PowerShot A1100 is a 12-megapixel digital camera with 4x optical zoom and a 2.5-inch LCD screen that is priced under 0.  Available in several two-tone colors, it features both mechanical and electronic image stabilization and runs on two AA batteries that last up to 140 shots. Designed as a point-and-shoot camera, the PowerShot A1100 features a wide range of shooting options, including automatic scene recognition and advanced face detection.

On the downside, the Canon PowerShot offers slow performance, with a two second startup time and shutter lag that ranges from 0.6 to 0.8 seconds.  It also lacks any manual control options, and the automatic controls that it does offer can be difficult to manage.  Photo quality is generally good, with acceptable color, contrast, and white balance.  However, some highlight clipping can degrade the quality, and it suffers from noise at ISO 400, like many other cameras in this class.

Overall, the Canon PowerShot A1100 is a good choice for its low cost and simplicity.  The photo quality is good for the price, and it features a viewfinder, unlike other digital cameras available for this cost.  Consider the Canon PowerShot if you are looking for an easy-to-use, point-and-shoot camera with solid photos.
